Being Silly

"Touchdown!"

Jaeli playing in the toy box!

All of us scared because mommy played a loud noise on her phone!
(Sorry for the quality of the pics...from my phone!)
Wow, my babies are almost 1 1/2 years old. I can't believe how fast time is going. Where did my sweet little babies go?
Well I think we are hitting the terrible twos early! They now throw tantrums. This time change thing has us all messed up too. We are now extremely tired at about 6:30 p.m. every night. So we are in bed by 7 p.m. now instead of 7:30 p.m. and always up at 6:30 a.m. instead of 7 or 7:30 a.m. I keep them in there until 7:45 a.m., so hopefully they get used to it soon. The day goes pretty fast and is pretty easy up until snack time at 4:30 p.m. So from 4:30 - 7 p.m. it is craziness! Some days they do really good and some days they are just cranky and fussy.
Tantrums: So now that they have discovered these, I have decided to ignore them and let them kick and cry it out.
Makenna is doing much better and
Maysie is just in the
beginning stages of it, but each day they get shorter!
Jaeli only does it when she is really really tired! If I give in and give them attention, then they do it even longer or more frequent. So for those of you who help me with the girls... bare with me during this process and ignore them until they stop crying, then we give them "positive" attention. In the end, we will have less tantrums and happier toddlers!
Snack Time: Snack time has become crazy too. They have to eat eat eat. Both their hands have to have food in them and their mouths. I think they think if they don't hold as much as possible, their sisters will take it. So I am trying to think of some easier, less messy snacks for them. I may just have to start giving them their snacks in their high chairs. They seem so hungry. So I may also switch dinner and snack time around again.
Schedule: Our schedule is so messed up. Something needs to happen, but so hard to come up with a new one right now until we figure out when we are moving out of our house...if we are moving out of our house. They take good naps every other day, so the days they don't take good naps, they are cranky all day long. I think we need to cut down to one nap a day, but man, I love having two naps a day for "me" time! But I think it is time! I am going to give it another week or two until we figure out what is going on with our house and then we will try a new schedule. Wish us luck!
Comfort Items: Our blankets and pacifiers are always wanted! I thought about getting rid of the pacifiers before the baby comes, but with so much changing I decided not too. There are going to be huge changes coming soon, so I want them to have that comfort to help them get through it. I already feel bad enough to change their world around. They love having a schedule and when it changes, its not a good time. So I think once we get settled into a new home, if that is the case, and after they get used to the baby, then we will talk about taking away paci's. As for blankets, I am going to let them keep those for awhile longer. Maybe in 6 months or so, we will "cut" them in half and then do the same thing every month until they are gone! We have two of each, so I will save one for them for when they are older and then "destroy" the other one over time.
Tooth brushing: We have been slacking on brushing the teeth since it is such a fight, but it is time to change that! They do pretty good by themselves, chewing on the brush. So I decided to give them their toothbrush every morning to "play" with and then every night after their bath. Then I
brush them really good. They hate it, especially
Jaeli and
Makenna. And
Jaeli knows just how to turn her head so I can't get them brushed well! It is a struggle, but something that must be done!
Clothes: We hate wearing clothes. They are always tugging and pulling at them trying to take them off. They are crying and throwing fits because I wont take them off. I think that is my mistake for letting them run around all summer in just diapers. They are getting better at doing it themselves. So I have to
be careful of what I put them in, especially for
nap time. I am going
to have to bring out the duct tape soon!
Daddy: We love our daddy! They don't get to see him very often during the week since he works 2
nd shift, but when they do get to see him, they get so excited! They love climbing on him, reading books with him, anything! I think daddy loves it too!
Communication: We are learning some signs, not as fast as I would like, but that is our fault for slacking! We can all sign eat, baby & touchdown! I just started drink. So hopefully they catch onto that soon. We are not talking as much as I would like, but we are getting there. They say a few words each, but its hard to understand them at times! There is ma ma,
da da, more, cat, dog, that, this, grandma. I think we need to work on this a little more!
Makenna:
She has become quite the tickle bug! She hated it before, but now she loves to be
tickled. It is so great to hear her laugh, she does not do it often, unless its her evil laugh.
She does not share well, she always has to play with what the other two are playing with.
She loves to be chased by anyone and everyone, even the dog! She is always trying to give
Whitney, the dog, kisses. I think Whitney gets very annoyed at times!
She is constantly signing "eat"! That is all she ever wants to do! It is very cute though!
We have a bean bag chair she loves to "throw" herself into
back words. It is so funny! We can't forget how much she loves to "sit" on her sisters! She not only sits on them, she jumps up and down on them too. (A little to hard sometimes.) She also likes to step on them. We are going to have to figure
something out about this or someone is going to get seriously hurt. I am finding myself having to pull her off of them quite often! She just thinks it is so funny, and usually the one she is sitting on does too... until she gets too rough!
She moans and groans all through meal times because she wants her tray filled with everything on it, all at once. She can never have enough. And when mommy or daddy is trying to eat... she has to have some.
She is cuddling a little more than usual. She is not a cuddlier, so it is quite nice!
She is now running, it is pretty cute, she trips every once in awhile though and falls.
Jaeli:
She is still very much a Grandma's girl. She always has to have her, its like I am not even there when Grandma is around! I thought this was a phase, but its been going on for a couple months now!
I am now able to put her hair up, but I only really choose to do it because it is starting to get in her face. They are all pretty much bald on the very top of their heads! So I have to put it to the side all the time, but I think she looks cute. She is also the only one that will leave it in and not pull it out. I think the other two are getting used to her having it up and don't pull on it as much as they used to.
She is still Miss Independent! She will go off and play by herself all the time. She does not usually take things from the other two or fight with them. On occasion she will, but not often. But when they take from her or she wants something they have... here come the tears and the "lip".
I would have to say she is still my best sleeper! When she is tired, you will know it and she becomes very needy!
She loves to be tickled, her laugh is so cute. Daddy has been doing "this little piggy" and she seems to really enjoy that, they all do!
She likes to sit with you or lay somewhere and just read a book. It's like she is reading a foreign language!
Walking is still an issue, but we are getting there. A couple times a day, I notice her taking a few steps all by herself, but then she falls! Her balance is getting much better, so I think once she gets that down, she will be good to go!
During snack time, she does not eat much. She would rather go play. So her sisters usually end up with her snacks! She will take a bite, then a drink and then drop everything and go off and play. She sure does love to play!
Maysie:
She is very much a mama's girl! She loves to cuddle with me or sit with me.
We are still quite the drama queen, not as bad as it used to be unless she is really tired. The tantrums are getting crazy!
Her smile is just so adorable, and she is always smiling or trying to be silly.
Her newest thing is doing EVERYTHING
Makenna does. It is so funny. She now backs up into you to sit on your lap just like
Makenna does. She signs eat all the time just like
Makenna does. She throws fits just like
Makenna. She tries to climb everything like
Makenna. She turns in circles now just like
Makenna. She also follows her everywhere! It is very cute!
She gives me kisses all the time now! All of them used to give them all the time, and then they stopped. But I got her to do it again. It is very cute! She has a smile on her face every time!
Some meals she eats like a pig and some meals she is so slow and does not eat much! But when snack time comes, she is always right there ready to eat!
She is still my early bird, always up first. Every once in awhile she wakes up from naps and just cries and cries. She refuses to go to sleep.
She is starting to get very attached to her blanket. It is very cute!
So that is the update on the girls! I am sure there are things I forgot, but will add them as I remember!
